Distributing Food, Clothing and Medicine

It is hard for most to imagine considering a brand new pair of underwear to be a huge blessing. For many it is an unspeakable luxury as is adequate food, clothing and medical care. Outreach for World Hope teams have distributed over 20 tons of food, clothing, shoes, blankets, and medical supplies to the desperately poor in Guatemala, Nicaragua, and the Dominican Republic over the past 4 years. Team members leave the United States with no less than 140 pounds of luggage per person and additional food and medications are purchased in the destination countries for distribution.

On one occasion, when delivering an unexpected bag of food to family in Guatemala, the young mother tearfully told a team member that she had been praying all day that God would provide something for her to feed her children that night.

On another occasion Outreach for World Hope members were able to save the eyesight of a ten year old boy in Ecuador by providing the $25 that was needed to cure the eye infection that was likely to cost him his vision. His father worked 10 hour days to earn the $8 per week on which the family lived and simply could not afford the needed antibiotics.

On yet another occasion a Outreach for World Hope team encountered a very sick 2 year old boy who was wasting away as a result of 3 months with diarrhea. He had not been seen by a doctor. With the help of OWH he was seen by a physician and was diagnosed with parasites, worms and giardia. He life was saved by the antibiotics he received.

Stories such as these are endless. With your help more suffering could be eliminated and more lives could be saved.
